Diacid chloride monomer phosgene that reacts with dihydroxy
monomer Bisphenol-A to make polycarbonates
Phosgene is highly reactive even with weak nucleophiles like phenolates of BPA.
It is also very toxic, and was used as a poison gas in WWI.
The other monomer involved is Bisphenol-A and of course,
you also need base to neutralize the HCl liberated, and a good hood.
Use your mouse on the model to rotate and zoom.
